When designing a data center keep it simple, flexible, scalable, and modular.
A simple data center design is easier to understand and manage. Label everything—network ports, power outlets, cables, circuit breakers, and their locations. It makes changes much more faster and less disruptive.
No one knows where technology is going, make sure the design is flexible and easily upgradable. Cost is a major consideration, understanding the mission of the data center will insure the investment will yeild a return.
Design for scalabilty, positioning of the racks and the equipment it they will hold should be considered both for the short and long term. Racks will hold various types of equipment requring different levels of power and cooling. Considering these isses upfront will ese neccessary change in the future.
Data centers are highly complex and can become unmanageable. Modular design allows you to create these complex systems from smaller building blocks. This is not a new concept but often omitted.
ARM will assist you to:
Prepare a budget
Develop program requirements
Design cabling systems
Define power and cooling requirements
Plan and manage voice and data circuit migration
Plan and manage IT infrastructure migration
Development of equipment project plan
Management in the physical relocation of all IT infrastructure
